Niave- Snow Corn (Rescue) Progression

ssssinful-1

Held Hostage By Corns
Four full months have passed since I picked up Niave, my male snow corn, from a family who had way too many animals to care for. The kids lost interest in the snakes once each of them received a puppy for Christmas. Anyways- Niave is 3 years old and weighed a meager 132 g when I picked him up. He was being fed F/T pinks "every few weeks". :headbang:

From the time I got him, I have increased his diet steadily. He is SUCH a motivated eater! Once we got him up to the correct size prey, he was placed on the Munson plan and is really doing well.

Oh... in March we found out Niave was a he. I found that out in a rather interesting way. I had been holding one of our females and shortly after putting her away I got Niave out. He could smell the female corn on me and I had the misfortune of him getting "excited" on my t-shirt. :puke02:

Here are some pictures of him now at a much happier 274g! He is in blue and just chillin before his next shed, so the pics seem a little fuzzy and of course he isn't in his finest birthday suit.

Wow. I'm so glad you were able to take him in and give him the proper care. He definitely looks healthy and happy.

Looks about the same size as my Phantom - I just wish I could get her to eat. :(

Thank you all for the kind comments. The pics are not so good cause he is blue, but maybe better one when he is all spiffied up.

I have to mention that he has a great temperment too. Just a sweetheart.

JemmaUK, sorry to hear that your Granite won't eat for you. When I have had snakes get picky, I have gone to ASF's and they seem to like that. Do you have those over in the UK?

Awesome job! I hate it when people lose interest in their pets and let them waste away like that. I think you and he are both lucky. If you are into breeding at all this one is ready and willing to work for you.

lightbox photos

Yesterday I found a portable light box at a local camera shop to take pics of my snakes in. I was struggling with the pictures and the quality I was getting out of the shots I tried to take indoors. Dark, shadows, color not showing up or is completely off, etc. So, I tried Niave as a subject for some photos before I got the hatchlings out. Here are some pretty good pictures of Niave... cropped a little, but no adjustments made color wise in photoshop. It's a good start and I am happy with the results, but there is plenty to learn in making good- great.

Niave is still a happy 274g. He was rewarded for his patience with a mouse.
