really not very happy guys i just brought a big massive glass fish tank 3ft long 15"wide so on and so forth and decided to move the little guys in all is well until i go to pick up twig and she is freezing:( and so r the others!!
so i panic a bit incase they is going to die but after a bit of a snuggle with mummy they warm up and life seems to fill there little bodies once more.

the heat mat is up full and burning hot and the thermomitor is reading the right temp so i stick my hand in the tank and the repti bark is totally stone cold no heat at all

so after boring you with my story what do i do get a heat light and ensure that they cant get near it or get tropical fish instead??

How old are your snakes? If they are hatchlings, the 3' tank may be a little to big for them. I use Aspen, and they have a hide right over their heat tape. They usually just burrow under the aspen in their hide and warm up. They also have a hide on the cool side to alternate safley. With the heat tape, I can regulate the temps to make sure surface area on the warm side stays at 82*. Hope this helps...

agreed

If they are hatchlings, the tank is too big and they aren't bothering to serarch out heat. IMHO

have to go with the opinion of the tank being to big....

but also out of interest.. cos glass aint as insulating as wood... do yo have the heat mat under the glass tank..?? and do you have anything below that..?? reflecting the heat back up..??
