Not Shedding

Hello all!

So my year old snow corn, Cruella, does not seem to be shedding. The last few months she has entered the blue, cleared out, and then doesn't shed. I keep track of her humidity, temps, etc and everything is stable, same as always. All of her sheds previous to this have been normal, whole, and at a regular pace of 4-6wks. The only other thing in play is that I have moved homes, but she doesn't seem too stressed by that and I would think she would've adjusted by now.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Niki

im no expert, but im thinking on here it was where i read tht someone elses corn had did tht, it may have been over on bp.net, anyway, wht i read was is tht a mans snake went blue, went out and then was like tht for 2 weeks, and he also moved im pretty sure, someone replied, i had the same situation, he said tht after it had been a few weeks tht the snake had shed in the new home. so i guess if it was bp.net, its the same for corns?

Alright Jason, I have a very hard time understanding what you said!

Let me try to understand

You read "somewhere" that someone had the same experiences with a snake that was blue, become clear and never shed until he was moved into his new viv? Which was about 2 weeks after he became blue?

Niki

How long has it been since he actually shed? Over 3 months? If that is the case, I would contact a vet. Does his look dull all the time? Any signs of damage scales or really really tight skin? Is there a possibilty that he did shed and just didnt find the shed? (I know that is a long shot but had to ask)

During their first year snakes will shed about once a month. Then as their growing slows their sheds have a longer period of time between them. And when they are adults they will only shed 2-4 times a year.

I am sure more experienced snake owners will comment, but my opinion is contact a reptile vet!

She shed about 2-3 months ago I believe. Probably pushing the three month marker. She doesn't look dull at all, actually she looks as though she has shed. It's weird, because I look for the shed and its just simply not there. No damage scales, and the skin is not tight. I've seen snakes with stuck shed and this is not the case. She seems fine - healthy, active, pissy as per usual.

She has slowed in growth, which is what I originally attributed this to. She's around a year and a half, eating small adult mice that seem to be a very appropriate food size for her.

Maybe it is just that she is getting older, but I didn't think she would go into blue like that unless she was going to shed. (?) Can someone who has an older snake who sheds a few times per year comment on this?

If I don't get a reasonable answer and she doesn't shed within the next four weeks, I will take her in.

What?? Maybe you should think out your sentences. Don't got the info can't produce the answer.

Anyways, if I were you I would just take her in anyways as a check up just to make sure.

Good luck

I have a huge male granite I got in Daytona in August and he has shed at least 5 times since he has been here. Most of my adults are shedding about once a month or so. I do have a friend that has one that is young and growing and has not shed since she got it. I am not sure what causes it. If the snake looks fine not sure what a vet could tell you. It would not hurt to take the snake in. Best of luck with it.
