Nutro cat food recall

Nutro is crap. always has been, always will be. they've had numerous recalls, discontinued their most popular products, and also, last year they were in trouble for not putting enough lamb into their lamb based products. sorry i don't have any info to back this up, this is just what our nutro sales reps told me at work.

but in my opinion, nutro is absolutley OUTRAGEOUSLY priced! their large breed dog goes for 66.99 before taxes here in canada. and our store usually tends to be cheaper than some in the city, so i wouldn't be surprised to be seeing it for $69.99 canadian. you can get a bag of something completely holistic and grain free for that price, and from a canadian company.

Thanks for the notice, my mother has gotten Nutro for her cats before, so I'll be sure to let her know. This is kind of surprising, I thought Nutro was a decent brand. The pet food recalls really scare me, I would like to eventually just make my dogs food myself, I just need to find a good recipe for a German Shepherd with allergies.

I wouldn't have the foggiest notion what makes good cat food, but this could be bad on a whole other level..

Interesting.....

Uh, having been in the business I don't agree Nutro has always been crap. But I agree with you now, not only have they gone down hill, but have done so in soap box derby fashion. When I was in the business, most Nutro canned cat food was made in Canada.

Nutro was a great brand until....Mars bought them. Then what katia says is true. Nutro was all by itself for 75 years. Once sold I knew it would be the end. BTW, Mars make Pedigree, one of the worst foods for your dogs.

whoops sorry guys, that was a totally biased/skewed opinion of a post, it's been crap since i began in the pet business, about 3 years ago. so for me, it started out as crap. i don't know anything about the history of nutro. sorry for the biased post guys, but i still do not recommend nutro to anyone EVER, in fact, i think within the next month or two we will be dropping all their products. they're just making it harder and harder for us to recommend their product to anyone, especially with the tons of other canadian products out there that are higher quality, and at a lower price.
