Well it is a done deal .The law was signed ,and will start the first of the year.
At least he did change it from all boids to just a few.

NY Bill Update: Unfortunately, Governor Patacki has signed into law legislation that would restrict ownership after January 1, 2005 of the following species: Anacondas, Burmese, Reticulated, and African Rock Pythons, and Nile, Water, Black-throat and White-throat Monitors.

grandfather clause ????????

Is there like a grandfather clause where that people get to keep what they have already or must they get rid of their animals ?

From what I have read, if you already have a species that is being banned you can keep it but you must adhere to some strict rules about keeping them. Also, you are not allowed to breed the banned species either.

Owners of these animals will need to obtain a permit from the NY Dept. of Environmental Conservation after that date to keep members of these species already in their possession. If you move you have to let them know. You cant breed them .Cant just sell them ,guess there will be lots of rules .I will post them if I see them.
