NY State trying to screw us again......

Hello All,

"Below I posted a link that was shared by the Herp Alliance regarding a new piece of legislation that has been introduced that would make it a Class E felony to own reptiles deemed able to cause bodily harm to people. Most of us know that even if this is seriously considered by state legislators, then there is a good chance the wording may affect more than just the "dangerous" species."

"I think this is somethign we really need to take seriously, and must discuss as a group and take the proper course of action. Like the ban in 2005, if overlooked, it could lead to us not being allowed to own reptiles at all. That is the last thing all of us want. So as I gather more information, I hope many of you will be proactive."

If anyone has any information regarding this, please share.

Define bodily harm. I mean, a glass of water can cause bodily harm if too much is drunk too fast and the person is already dehydrated resulting in hyponatremia. Or, the glass could fall resulting in a cut while cleaning up the glass. Given this logic, water, glass, and all snakes could be deemed a felony if we were to simply say anything that could cause bodily harm is a felony to own. Simply loco.

I need to hurry up and get out of Ny, this is just so dumb that they are trying to pass something like this and take away our rights. They need to start focusing on the bigger concerns that need their attention, instead of what pet we are aloud to own. Smh! :(
