Hey people, so maybe a month or two I switched my snake prism to small fuzzies. She is around 7 - 9 months old. this is her 4 or 5th week eating these (im not exactly sure) so that its weird that she world regurge. Her cage is almost always at a constant 86 to 89 degrees. She has had no problem eating these in the past and what she regurged was very thin and not very solid, it wasnt a lot either. I do have a band practacing in my basement (im on the top 2nd floor). Could the vibrations in the floor be stressing her out? My brothers band doesnt practive too often. She eats every monday / tuesday or 7 - 8 days.
She has only regurged once before but that was many months ago when i used heat lamps, (i made a thread a while ago) and she was much smaller. I really need advice as to what should i do. thanks

-Tim (i will post some pics of her if you need)

Follow the regurge protocol and watch the temps. 86-89 is a little high. 84-85 is ideal. Try to eliminate anything that might be stressing her. If she regurges again or you notice anything else you probably want to get her to a vet who cares for snakes.

Did you see her actually regurge ?
If not it might be fecal matter and looks weird to you because she is now eating mice with fur and has passed some undigested hair along with feces.

it generally takes a snake 2 to 4 days to digest. You stated that she feeds every Monday, and today is Saturday. So she regurgitated after about 5 days from eating. You said it was mostly liquid. I'm guessing the solid matter has continued on it's track. Has she pooped in the past 5 days? You may be looking at a blockage or constipation here.

Some people have success by placing a constipated snake in a tub of warm water (not hot) and let the snake soak for about 20 minutes. Something about being placed in warm water gives them the urge to poop. If nothing happens I'd go to the vet.

The night I handeled her it was about 5 mins in and then she started doing this motion in her tail. I immediatly recognized this as her about to use the bathroom. So as soon as I put her in her cage she did use the bathroom the usual amount. She didnt regurge until 24 hours later. It was mostly what could be described as a transparent jelly or tissue maybe. She has been acting normal since the regurge. Could this possibly have just been some part of the mouse? Should I still follow the regurge protocol? It definitely wasnt a big regurge too.

However, there was a little amount of solidity to the regurged material. Gah this is even stressing me out, I know its not necessarily your fault, its just you cant help feeling guilty about your snake having to go through this.

could it have been mucous? Transparent Jelly? Could she have a respiratory infection (cold)? Has she been wheezing, sneezing, or gaping her mouth open? Have you seen bubbles around her nose or mouth? It doesn't sound to me like a regurgitated mouse.

And since she pooped and you say it was the usual amount, then I sort of think something else may be going on.

Did you smell it? If so what did it smell like? (I know, smelling stuff that comes out of a snake is one of our less pleasant snake parent duties)

No I havent seen any sign of a cold, in fact right now shes running around in her cage, tommorow is her regular feeding day. I know that what was regurged had either no smell or no smell at all. She is flicking her tounge, her eyes are normal, here are some pics:

So again should I try to feed her or should I follow the regurge protocol? My gut feeling wants to feed her becuase it looks like shes hunting now. I understand how they will keep on regurging until they die.

Since we are unsure what it was go ahead and feed her. Keep the temps the same as what you originally posted. A little to high on the hot side is better in this this situation just in case there is an URI or issue digesting.

Alright guys, I will feed her tomorow. I will keep her warm hide on the thermostat at 87 degrees. I will keep you updated on anything notable. Thanks a lot for helping me out!

Best wishes. She looks good in the pics. I'd suggest giving her a little smaller meal just to be on the safe side.

To add the BB code by hand add
to the end. That's how I post my pics.

^Thanks dolly.
I will feed her 1 pinkie tonight and if she takes it well I will get her back to her regular small fuzzies next tuesday.
