Well, this is nothing that I normally would do but had a strong feeling about starting a thread here. My daughter (Krystal) is a cheerleader at our local high school and they (only 5 of their squad so far) are having a "Relay For Life" coming up for the American Cancer Society.

I know that allot of people donate to local charities and just wanted to offer this as another avenue to help a major cause. Krystal is running for my aunt who battled and survived breast cancer about 2 years ago. Allot of people are doing it in memory of loved-ones lost , who have someone close that is currently dealing with cancer, or just because.

I hope that this doesn't come across wrong or is taken the wrong way and I am not trying to bring attention to my family.....I just felt that I would share with my friends here on CS.com about a cause that effects everyone. My daughter will not get an award or win some sort of contest for raising the most money. If it was anything like a fundraiser for a cheer camp where you have to sell candy-bars or magazines I wouldn't even THINK about starting this thread. With the situation that Michelle (DevilzNight) has just gone through plus what we hear/see everyday, it is a silent killer that needs allot more research and awareness. Listed below will be an e-mail that she has sent out to friends and family along with a link. Thanks for reading.

Relay For Life is an overnight event that brings our community together to help support the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The Society works hard every day to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research, affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people on how to prevent or detect cancer early. The Society helps people with cancer right here in our own community. And our efforts at Relay For Life can help the American Cancer Society to keep working toward a cancer-free future.

I want to invite you to show your support in the ongoing fight against cancer by joining us for this year’s event. Please click on the link below for more information, including details on the inspirational Survivors’ Lap and the moving Luminaria Ceremony. We hope to see you there! If you can’t join us, will you please visit the site and make a donation to support our efforts? Either way, you will make a real difference in the lives of people facing cancer – and in the lives of the people who love them. Thank you!
