So I went back into the stre where I bought prisa and where I buy his food and the reptile guy/prisa's breeder is offering to sell me a breeding pair of his and the store will buy the hatchlings as they come :D so I just need to get together a Viv for them and bam! I get to be a breeder hehe. I'm excited :) now just to register on acr...

Also, it will be either two snows or a snow and a fire :)

Not only two vivs, but set-ups for each individual baby. Incubating, feeding, vet lined up????
I don't want to discourage but there is alot to breeding besides putting two snakes together.

Has the female already been bred this year? Did she lay eggs? If pet shop owner kept them together is she gravid already?

I agree with Susang. You also have to be prepared for the worse case. Be able to cull deformed hatchlings or non feeders. You have to be prepared in case the female becomes egg bound. Vet visits can add up and put a big hole in money, especially if they have to preform surgery on the female.

I wish you all the luck in the world, just read everything you can and educate yourself ahead of time just in case.

They've been housed together for years and they've been bred before. The breeder (well, now ex as he doesn't have time for it all) said he will help me with all of that. Vet recommendations, incubation, etc. I have the space, and am building my own Viv with the help of a friend who works at tap plastics. I also have been stalking the forums daily, doing my research :)

Maybe you should do some research on co-habbing.
Again if they have been together for years has she laid eggs this year, what ondition is she in.

Very good questions to ask him! I'll contact him once he's off work and ask him all of these. Anything else I should ask? And I've been reading all the co-Habbing threads and will also have a divider made to fit the Viv to separate them if an emergency rises

Really usually when an emergency arrises it's too late.
You might also look up rack systems for your breeders and babies.

Cohabbing a breeding pair can result in over breeding and cause the female's health to decline.

Just because the guy that is selling you the pair cohabs does not mean that it is the right thing to do. I know in Europe, they cohab successfully but usually males with males and females with females. Plus they keep them in bigger tanks. Use the search feature, there are many threads about cohabbing and the dangers that come along with it.

If you cohab hatchlings you run the risk of one baby eating another one ended with both dying.

Seriously, I would really research more into breeding, cohabbing, what stress can cause to snakes healths etc. I just rescued a clutch of eggs because someone had cohabbed and now they can not care for any of their snakes or the eggs.

Thank you for the advice :) I will definitely do more research on co-habbing and how To better build my Viv

I have to say thank you for taking this advice to heart and trying to do things better. Your attitude thus far is very refreshing.

A lot of people do not brumate but still have successful breeding. With brumation, I believe it might be easier to tell when the female is ovulating.

I've never brumated and mine breed normally. Those who do brumate, say that it gives larger clutches with fewer infertile eggs, but I've never had a particular problem with those aspects.
