I brought my male up a month or two ago. He is a 2009 Fire Amel. I have used him for breeding the last 2 years. He was doing great, fat and healthy when I brought him up. Eating fine, drinking fine. Then over the last 2 weeks, he began to decline. He lost significant weight, and his skin began to feel like sandpaper. I thought maybe for some unknown reason he was dehydrated so I soaked him a few times, and put him in a nice clean cage. I went out of town, and he was looking much better. When I came back a few days later, I thought he was dead. But he isnt. He is soaking right now in nice clear clean water. His water dish is both full and clean. What should I do? In all the years I have had them I have never once encountered a problem like this. :headbang:
Thanks.

Take him to the vet.. sudden weight loss like that, either his imune system got weakened and he got a parasite outbreak or worse you have crypto. If so the babies you have sold may have it too as well as the females you have bred him with. I would take to a vet instantly to see what is going on.

Thanks for the reply. I will see what I can do. He has never had problems before and all my other snakes are doing great. I havent bred him for over a year, and he showed no problems then. Where can you get dewormer?
