There are 2 trains of thought on paradoxes really-

1. Random genetic mutation, inexplicable but very cool.

2. Paradoxes are actually chimeras, individuals that possess the genetic material of 2 animals, which results from twins fusing very very early on. The red patches therefore would be from the normal twin.

Either way, getting 2 in one clutch is pretty awesome!
 
Those pewters are awesome and have a lot of red. Are you planning on breeding them to each other? I would love to see how the babies come out.
