Parents not eating

The adult cornsnakes are not eating. I thought that may be a sign that they are getting ready to breed but it has been or going on two months now. I did not keep up on there log book this past 2 or so months. I guess it was bad timing. ANd now I have 2 breeders that are not eating.

This time I did put the nesting box in there cage a lot sooner then last year. I thought giving them a nest box would make them breed sooner but so far I cant feel any lump in her and if I look real hard I think I can see a fast narrowing at the buttox :eek1: But I think I am just wanting to see it there.

I thought by now she would have given me a post shed. But all they both are dooing is laying ontop eachother in the round tupaware container and laughing at this human. :crazy02:

Is the fact that they have both refused to eat a good sign? Or am I going to be faced with the fact that I may have to weight till next year.

At a guess, your female is not eating because she is gravid, and your male has gone off food because it is the breeding season. Try the female on smaller food items - she may eat a few pinkies or fuzzies. And don't worry - they can go for months without food. My male didn't eat for the thick end of three months during breeding season last year and he is just fine.

she just ignores all food I give her. They are both full grown and she has had 2 clutches already. two of her baby's from the last litter were almost like a aztec color. That is why I am looking forward to this litter.

Maybe take out the nest box until you're done introducing the male, if that might help? :shrugs:
Also, are you sure they have not mated? Because many breeders have never witnessed some of their corns breed, yet they get fertile clutches every year.
I've noticed that most males will not accept food around breeding season especially the ones that are being bred. Females will stop eating once they become noticeably gravid.
If this helps
good luck! :headbang:
