Patch of dark skin on her head

Greetings,
Ridley is my first corn snake, and has gone through two sheds since I got her. The first shed was flawless, but the last shed was stuck. It happened three days ago now. I put her in a damp sphagnum moss container when I noticed she was having trouble (I did this three days ago) and it looked like all the stuck skin came off.
However, her head now looks like this. It was hard to get a good pic of this, but the dark spot seems to be indented a little. Is she ok? Any tips?

Just discovered this forum, and looking forward to being a frequent poster :)

:welcome:

Yeah, the pic is a bit blurry but it appears the the scale is missing. Probably lost during the shed. What we are seeing is the skin that is under all scales. It appears clear due to lack of pigment. Scales get their color from the underlying skin. Your snake is a Snow? (Amelanistic and anerythristic).
OR, the scale could still be there but very thin.
My thoughts on what I CAN see.....

It will grow back so no worries!

Thank you for the reply!
Yep, she is a snow. I was worried after reading stories of tail tips falling off due to stuck sheds.

Hey there NotAZakuBoy! How ya been?

Ridley is certainly a cute snow, regardless of that missing patch of pigment. However, it's difficult to ascertain EXACTLY what that is by viewing it through a picture. It APPEARS to be similar to what happened to my largest corn, Bozo, and is actually the way he got his name! Since Bozo has grown, the spot on his head has actually gotten smaller, probably because his head got bigger (?), but when he was a hatchling I noticed that he had a similar splotch, immediately following a shed. The splotch gave him the appearance similar to Bozo the Clown, who for those who are old enough to remember, had a distinctively orange-red wig on his dome. I took the liberty of posting a pic of Bozo from this past summer and I enlarged it so that you can see what I'm referring to. The strange part is that the mark stayed EXACTLY the same size as it was when he was a young'un. If it grew with him, it would have significantly covered MOST of his dome, but you can see that that didn't happen, though the name stuck. He IS a cutie also, isn't he?

Yes, it's good to be on top of sheds. Tails especially! Philip, the snake in Philip got a tattoo thread, lost about 3/4 inch of his tail. By the time we rescued him there were to many layers of stuck sheds on his tail that there was no saving it. The tip fell off shortly after we got him.

Haha
Axis1,
I like the camera roll pics!!

Are those selfies ?????? :crazy02:

WHOA! That just goes to show ya that despite what you can DO with these smartphones, if you're NOT careful, you can get caught posting stuff that can get you in a LOTTA trouble! LOL!

:badidea:

Yeah, some were selfies that automatically save to photos from Snapchat! Most were just quicksnaps of the sneaky ones & the pussies (meaning my kittens, of course!).

:kids:

I hope those selfies aren't THAT clear! LOL! That's some scary stuff!:blowhead:
