Penny the amel

BloodyCats

I like cats.
Here's a pic I took of my yearling amel, Penny. She is a bit fiesty, but I still love her, especially because she becomes quite active at night and it's nice to sit back and watch her cruise around. As you can see from the bottom right corner, this pic was taken right after she shed. Enjoy.

Wow!

She's very pretty - I love how yellow she is:) And I agree, it's fun to watch snakes at night when they really move around - one of my snakes lives right by my bed, so I can just look over in the middle of the night if I'm not asleep and see him slithering around his branch.

Oh yeah~~
that's a very nice picture.

It doesn't look like an amel, it kind of looks like a butter.

Is that the effect of the flash light or is that the real color?

I would say the pic is pretty close to her real colors. I bought her from a pet store where I walked in and said I pretty much wanted to see anything they had that was female and not the normal morph. She was the same size as Irwin, and I had not seen such an orange amel, so I bought her, even though amels are really not one of my favorites. I really like the fact that she is orange on orange as opposed to red on orange like a lot of amels. It's too bad she doesn't like being handled. She didn't mind so much when she was younger. Here's a pic of her outside with her possible future mate Irwin.

You know...

...Penny does look kind of like a butter corn. I have an amel who is very orange on orange, and Penny's color is quite a bit different from his. I also have a young butter (who hasn't developed all of her brigt yellow color, yet).

I'll have to take some pictures of my butter corn, but here is a picture of my amel...

Here is a brighter picture of him...

The last picture was a bit dark so it is hard to appreciate his colors.

She must be a red head. I know all about the firey personality of a red head, I am one!

AWESOME

he's really doing well - funny story though - the second day we had him - we caught him during an escape - the cage he's in has two screens on the top that slide inward. they each cover 1/3 of the tank with the center being glass. each screen has a pin preventing it from sliding inward with it in place. WELL, he proceeded to push the pin out of the screen and slide the screen inward until there was enough room for him to get out. he was half way down the back of the cabinet when we saw him and put him back. needless to say I have made adjustments to secure his top and also put his cage in a pet store display cabinet that I bought for him - He's the lucky guy in the penthouse

Hehe . . .

If you recall, I told you he was an escape artist extraordinaire! Once he got out, and I didn't even know he was loose until my oldest daughter yelled for me to come get him out of her shower!

:D

She was NOT happy!
