@%#$^# sorry I need to vent...

I am watching people feed their snakes on YouTube and I see this guy feeding a beautiful little corn.

a) he has the snake straight on his dirty carpet and throws a F/T pinkie on the floor. okay, that pinkie is decomposing...god forbid that guy has kids.

b) once this baby has the pinkie in his mouse, he proceeds on playing tug-o-war with his snake...

Am I the only one that sees so many different problems with this???

People are really really stupid.

To be honest I have seen a lot worse. As for the carpet feeding, I once met a guy who fed his full-grown burmese python on the kitchen floor. He couldn't see how dangerous it was. Many people seem to do this sort of thing without a thought. :shrugs:

I wouldn't say this video screams responsibility, but it just doesn't surprise me.

Yeah that's a pretty stupid video, but I agree with Becks, I've seen worse. What really makes me shake my head in disbelief is some of the comments that people leave. YouTube has got to be the most violent and abusive place I've ever visited. Also, some guy said that he didn't want to feed pre-killed mice and he wants to feed live later on, but his snake is too small so he's going to feed him goldfish and crickets... I'm going to have to post on this.

All the best

David

beside the tug o war, I don't see anything wrong with it. The pinky doesn't look decomposed, its nice and pink and I was expecting a really nasty carpet but its ok too.

Just because someone doesn't feed in a deli cup in the dark doesn't make it stupid.

WHAT?that pinky looks good enough for ME to eat!!!!and as for the floor...couple of faint stains, probably for the kids.lol The tug of war was a bit much but everything else looked fine to me!

Even the 'tug of war' looked ok to me, that's a fiesty little corn that certainly wasn't a shy feeder:shrugs:

the tug of war is abit dangerous because it could snap their teeth. But at least he didn't do it too long. As for carpet, i have seen worse.

:angry01:What an IDIOT!!!!I am at a loss for words!!the stupidity of this individual frustrates me!some people are complete MORONS!!:angry01:

As for worst videos, I think this is one of the worst ive seen, the enclosure is just pure trash.

(sorry had to post)

The cage may not be appealing, but there's nothing wrong with it. It may be unorganized but he has a point, snakes don't "care" what the cage looks like. I see nothing wrong with the video, and I have seen 50x worse.
:shrugs:
As far as the OP, stop whining. Just because it's different from what you do doesn't mean it's horrible and stupid. The tug of war is unsafe but it's not like he did it for the whole video and to hurt the snake.

I watched the first 54 seconds of the first video. There was NOTHING wrong with feeding the snake THAT pink on THAT carpet. Nothing I could see, anyway. Geez. If you saw something I missed, let me know. I didn't see any particulates that could be accidentally ingested and some "fear" of bacteria. Come on - it's a mouse! Do you think it was sterilized before they froze it? Are you saying you'd throw away a pink if you dropped it on the floor before giving it to your snake? I doubt it.

I don't make a habit of it, but I know I wouldn't. I feed in deli cups, hide boxes, or cage bottoms if newsprint (over 250 snakes now and for over 15 years), but there is nothing on my carpet that isn't likely to make it intio a cage at one time or another.....lol.

As far as the tug of war, unless he did it after the first 54 seconds, I didn't see anything REALLY wrong with it. Sure, he DID do it longer than I would recommend! However, maybe the snake will not eat it unless he DOES tug it like that. I've had to do something similar while converting snakes from live to thawed. Common trick - IF that is what he is doing. Doubt it, but it is possible.

No, but snakes do care whether they have an enclosed hide and reasonable living conditions.

1. No extensive substrate cover. Even if this guy was poor, it doesn't cost a lot of money to put some newspaper down.

2. He's got a water dish that's filled with substrate and faeces.

3. The hide is a plastic dish with some mouldy paper towels in that.

Yes, I'm sure you have seen worse, but just because you've seen worse doesn't mean it's not wrong.
