Personality, or stage?

I've had my baby girl for a little more than 3 weeks. I never see her except when she comes out after I turn her light off. But, when I do see her she freezes and then when I leave she goes back in her hide and doesn't come back out. Do you think she will grow out of this stage, or is this a specific personality for her? She handles pretty well...

This is natural behavior. To the snake, you are a possible predator. I'm guessing the snake is really young also? When mine are hatchlings and juveniles I find I don't see them out too much. When they become acclimated to their environment and get bigger I see them out cruising their tanks a bit more. Snake's gonna do what it's gonna do.

I concur, most of it is probably because your snake is young. But it could also depend on the husbandry also. If a young snake (particularly) doesnt have enough coverage and high places to climb to, they won't be out as much. But it could also very well be your little ones personality. All my snakes like to hide and sleep the day away. Sometimes I'll catch them moving from one hide to another when I flip on the lights, but other than that snakes like to be hidden. My only snake that has his moments of randy activity is Lars in the spring, and that's simply because he's lustful haha. Only time will tell for you. But how often do you handle your snake? Socialization is important for a snake not to fear you, and to see you as just another object they live around. I hold all mine daily, or every other day at most, for at least an hour at a time. ATLEAST.

I hold her almost every day. She is about 18 inches long, so still young. She is extremely calm. I guess she is just scared that I'll pick her up if she is out. I walk in the room and she just slithers away. I've read stories where some peoples corns come out when they sense their owner walk in.

Yeah some people are lucky enough to be greated by their snakes =\. To mine I'm just another inanimate object in the room, unless i take them out, then they'll react.
