question about eggs

Hello, I am new to this site. I have a fine orange male corn snake about 17 years old, and a timid brown female about 5 years old. They stay together in the same cage. (Is that bad...I just read on your site that they should be separated except for breeding.) Anyway, eggs have been produced several times but always I think the eggs are bad because they are so stuck together, a bit moldy, and grey in color. Have I thrown away possible baby snakes! Please tell me what viable eggs look like. The last large "clump" were left in the water dish. I have a deep bowl filled with loose mulch material, but eggs have never been deposited there. Thanks, k

You need to seperate these two. Forcing the female to lay clutch after clutch of eggs is never a good thing. Eggs will stick together and those are most likely fertile. "Slugs" or bad eggs are slimy and small and usually will not adhere. If they aren't kept warm and moist they will eventually mold and die. The eggs laid in water will most likely be dead as the embryo drowns. You need to do some research on your animals so that you can better provide for them. You are risking your female's health by continually allowing her to be bred and never have a break.
