question about lighting

gimmiks

so my cornsnake is in a 10 gallon tank he is about 4-5 months old ..he has an undertank heat pad....so my question is my room is really cold so should put a heat lamp or is he o.k. and if so then how many hours a day should it be on for and how many watts should the bulb be ... thank you

what are the temps? if you have a good range then it is probably o.k. I use a uth and Heat lamp just because that is what I need to keep the viv warm enough.

hi,

Really that heat mat needs to be connected to a thermostat so you can keep the temps in the cage accurate and constant, the temp should be ~88 degrees at the hot end.

The heat mat should be sufficient but you need to find out what temperature the surface is above the heat mat.

Agree with Torsten. As long as the snake has the correct maximum temp, inside the tank, at ground level, above the UTH, then don't worry about the ambient temperature in your room.

He doesn't live out in your room, so the room temp there isn't relevant.

I thought the question was about lighting... Oh well, just follow Torsten's and Bitsy's advice and you'll be fine. :)
