okay, this is gonna sound really weird. and i feel like a total retard for asking this.

On www.sSnakesS.com - in the European ads, this guy was advertising some skinks - and said he would ship...worldwide. I was just wondering, can you ship reptiles - like snakes?

this is really puzzling - i didnt exactly consider it safe. this must be impossible - a windup right?

if not - can corn snakes be posted from the US?!?

God - what am i saying.......

Hi! As far as I know it can be done(the 2nd one)....

I'm not sure if the worldwide thing works but...As long as the snake/reptile is safe and sound it can be done:)

And as far as I know cornsnakes can be shipped from the US...I mean they do such things every day right?? How do you think people can get Black Mamba(f.e.) anti-venom made in Australia..while the snake is found in some parts of Africa and not in Australia:)

From what I understand, shipping snakes out of the country requires a mess of permits, health checks, and other such things... but it can be done. Kathy Love, the cornsnake queen, will ship orders outside the US and is setup for handling all the rules and regulations associated with doing so. I suggest you email her for specifics if you're interested in learning more.

thanks guys

that clears up a few things - well, a lot

you see, i was just wondering - cos, if i ordered a snake from serpenco.com i'd pretty much know for sure that i'd be a getting a healthy snake (and who's definitely born in captivity) for a relatively cheap price - especially with the dollar/sterling exchange. i'm getting most of my heating mats/thermostats and everything shipped over - cos its simply so much cheaper.

I can't seem to find a corn snake here for less than £100 (around $150) - even the ones that are relatively small. hell, my local pet store is selling a green grass snake (around a year old) for £80 ($120) - which, i feel is a total rip seeing as he is no more than a 12" or so in length.

Although, i don't think it'd be any cheaper to get a good anerythristic male ($20 at serpenco.com) and post it - especially with all those permits needed, would it?

No, all that paperwork can get expensive. Did you check Kathy Loves web site cornutopia.com she has info about international shipping.

Unless things have changed recently Rich Z (SerpenCo) doesn't ship internationally.

Good luck with your purchase.

might be worth checking out some uk dealers and see if they will ship over to NI. Don't see why not. Seem very expensive in your area from what you were saying. You should be able to pick up a nice hatchling for £20 from the UK. try ecorep as i know they deliver their animals and they are meant to be quite good too

Or you could try the netherlands...it's not as far as the US and they sell snakes for a good price.

for example: I got my new corn (I think I'll call it edge:p ) in the netherlands(where I live). Edge is about a month old, about 12" and I got him/her for 35 euros:) ....For all I know that's a good deal. Healthy, born in captivity, a beautiful color....I'm happy:D

But what I'm trying to say is: If NI or the UK is to expensive and you want your snake to come from another country, try the NL because it's quite close to NI;)

There are no snakes in Ireland. One of their Saints chased them all out, the spoilsport ;) I dont think we should be helping to repopulate the island, do you?

Ecorep is a good suggestion. Ive not dealt with them but they have a reasonable reputation.

edit: S i cant type your full screen name as it puts a score line through all the text after it!

We just got in touch with ecorep today about getting a new snake. They charge £17 shipping ontop of the original price for the snake, and they seem very proffesional so far. Some very nice looking snakes! Don't you dare take the pastel motleys! ;)

Ps snakes in NI will be more expensive because there are no wild snakes in the first place. Do you have to have permits to keep them??

Oh really?? Well instead of that you can wright saban..for that is my real name...I don't mind:)
