Quick thermostat/thermom question

I can't seem to find this answer thru searching.. but something not making sense to me..

I see how everyone recommends using a probe thermostat, with a probe thermometer right next to it.

Doesn't the probe on the thermostat, like a BAH1000 read the temperature where the probe is? why do I need another thermometer right next to it?

thanks

Well unless you have a thermostat that gives you live feedback on what the temp is (I've got a reptitemp 500r so it doesn't) you need a digital thermometer to make sure the read out is what you want from the thermostat.

Seems good, but I'm paranoid on non analog thermostats I like to be able to see the real time tempature. Otherwise you have no way of knowing if it has actually set it to the temp you set the dial to.

Another reason is that when you get another cornsnake (oh, come on, you know you will!! ) you can run more than one (of the same brand/model) heat source off of one thermostat in a rack-type set up. My thermoters are fully contained in each bin, and the thermostat probe is taped down to one of the heat tapes. I do that so I can remove the bin from the rack and put it on my table nearby without worrying about jerking cords out of sockets. (yes, all my snakes currently in that situation seem to prefer to poop on the thermoter!)

You know, I wish I could spell "Thermometer" correctly each time without having to look, or at least remember to use the spell check! :smash:
