I tried the search option already and I didn't find anything...

I was just wondering....Can snakes hear? I talk to my snakes all the time to let them know I'm in their viv so I don't startle them (stupid, I know, haha, its habit.) Plus Scottie got his name from the "Scottie Doesn't Know" song from Eurotrip because I thought he was watching the tv...just for that song. So I was wondering if he could even hear it, or if the moving images were catching his attention.

Yes they can, I believe sense of hearing is most sensitive to frequencies around 200–300 Hz.
They don't have external ears, as you know. But they do have a bone called the quadrate under the skin on either side of the head which focuses sound into the cochlea.
For some reason, I imagine a snake hears things slightly similar to how we hear stuff when we are underwater. This is probably not the case however.

I also reckon you could get a good idea of what they hear by putting your hand tightly over your ear and then tapping your arm. lol. Or just generally put your ear to any surface in general.

I do not believe that snakes can hear sounds. If someone can disprove this with proven fact, please do. :)
However, as I understand it they can feel vibrations. If you were to play a loud piece of music, while they might not hear the actual notes, they could probably feel the bass beat.

Like I said, that may not be correct, it's just the way I see it.

That's very cool to learn. I always wondered why some of my snakes would look at me when I was talking, like they recognised my voice. That's probabaly my imagination, though. LOL
