rattle her tail

saraelf69

sick'em felix
i tried to feed felix today but she curled up and began rattleing her tail. i held the pinky and began waving it in her face like i always. she struck at it twice but didnt follow through with trying to swallow it. it looked like she wanted to get away from it and she was strikeing it to ward it off. what has gotten into her?

Did you try feeding Felix in her tank or in anothe container?
How long has it been since she has eaten?

seperate container. its been 4 days. she usually eats every 4 to 5 days.

oh and i should mention she moved real quick when she was in the seperate container. she wanted out of there real quick.

ok. Did you just pick her up and put her in the container to feed her or handled her a bit before?
If she tries to get away that means she is scared (please correct me if I am wrong), I would try handling her first until she calms down and then try again feeding her.
Please let us know how it goes.

Corns will often rattle their tail when threatened much the same way a rattlesnake does. That way when their tail rattles up against leaves (or plastic, aspen, or glass in our cases) it serves as a good "STAY AWAY FROM ME" message to potential predators.
I would suggest for you to help her calm down and try feeding her again

yeah i held her and she is calm but when she gets in the container she totally freaks out and starts rubbing her nose against the plastic moving fast. i think im going to try feeding her tommorrow.

Try holding her and the pinky in your hand. She might find it less stressful that way ;)
Mine is fine doing it that way so give it a go.

Don't forget, this should not be done with an adult as they migth look and smell your fingers and think "yumm yumm"... LOL

How old is the snake??
And how big is the feeding container? Maybe try feeding in a smaller one and feed at night. To help feel less stress .
When the snake refuses a meal do you wait until the next schedule feeding? Or do you try the next day. You don't want to condition the snake to refuse food.

Keep us posted. :wavey:

she is 2 months old and hasnt refused a eating ever before now. the container is about a 11 inches to a foot and about 6 inches wide. she has eaten in their before and hasnt given me any problems. the last feeding i might have pissed her off cause she struck at it and i moved the pinky and she missed and hit the floor. LOL

so yesterday i held the pinky and she wasnt interested in it so i stoped trying until today. i gave it to her and she still wasnt interested so i just left it in her container and she slithered over it then she "played dumb" like she just noticed it was there and she attacked it and ate it.

thats what i get for messing with her.
