I have a female due to lay any day now. She has always been a friendly enough snake. Not all cuddley but tolerant to being handled. She has a laying nest in her tank. She took a small meal on Monday with no problem. Besides that I havent seen her out of the box. I tried to take her out thursday night for a little exercise, and all hell broke loose. She started striking as soon as the lid came off of her hide. Unfortunatly it was in my lap at the time. I managed to get the box back in the tank with out too much trouble. But before I could get the lid snapped back on she probably struck at me hitting the window of the tank 6-8 times. Its been over three days now and she hasn't budged one bit that I can tell. I have been checking the box as best as I can without upsetting any more than I have to. I dont think she has had any water in a while and I'm worried the stress of thursday night may be affecting her. Should I just leave her completly alone? Any one with similar experiences that you could share would be greatly appreciated.
 
I don't have any experience with this but if you're concerned with her not getting water you could always move the water dish closer to the opening of her hide. She might feel safer not having to come all the way out of her hide to get water. :shrugs: Just a thought.

Best birthday gift!

As much as my darling Thomas says he will never encourage my breeding ambitions...this is what he gave me for my birthday today! I have a female with totally white eyes today so with a bit of luck there'll be some eggs from her in a couple of weeks. I've stabilised the temperature at 30 degrees today with no egg boxes in it and I'll probably drop it back a notch to 28-29 or so before the eggs come....very pleased with myself! :crazy02:
