Red light?

Hey everyone! So it's getting colder outside and so is my house. I use heat a lamp for my snake during the day, and that is no longer enough heat since I don't use it at night. So I was looking around and I saw those red lights that heat during the night that apparently doesn't effect their sleep cycle. I bought one. My question is: Why doesn't it effect their sleeping cycle? The light seems really bright to me.

Here is a picture. Also I am sorry about my horrendous spelling.
