red tail boa

Evil One
i've thinking about getting a red tail boa BUT some people/places say they will get up to 10 feet long...others say they'll get 7 feet at the largest...and some say they'll rarely hit 7 feet...most likely they'll get 5-6 feet. Anyone know what is correct here? Maybe some of you have an adult red tail boa? i also read they'll hit 3 feet within a year is this also true?

I have a few; females average about 6-8+ feet, and they can get over 10 feet however thats rare (something you need to be ready for though if you get a female). Males stay on the smaller side, averaging 5-8 feet and a lot less girth then females. If your worried about size get a male, and ask about its parents lengths if you can as that will give you a good idea as to what the offspring will be like. They can reach 2-4 feet in a year, however theyre not the monster growers that burms or retics are.

Another thing to consider is that Boa Constrictor Constrictor get consideribly bigger than Boa Constrictor Imperator. The biggest BCI I have seen was about 8 feet, but they generally stay around 5-6.
