Regurge Question

Hi all,

This may seem very gross but what exactly does a regurge look like? We cleaned out our snakes tanks yesterday and all was fine, but I got up this morning and something smelled really bad so in our 18 month old males tank there was something that looked like it could have been excrement but not like excrement. But I could see a mouse tail and something very slimy attached to the tail, so first thing I thought was regurge. But is this the case?

Also, if it was a regurge, I now wait 7-10 days to feed him again, correct?

Thanks a bunch for all your help!

yep - if it was a regurg I would recommend a 10 day wait before offering food again.

Regurgs do smell absolutely awful. From what you describe it sounds very much as if it could have been a regurg. If in doubt - treat it as if is was. It is always hard to tell without having been there from just a description. Clean your cage, make sure the smell is gone, and check your temperatures.

Let us know how it goes, Skye

In addition to waiting the 10 days, you should probably offer a smaller food item, for a couple of feedings to get you snake back on track. This is what I do, since to large of a food item could have also caused the regurge if the snake didn't have the correct temps to digest. I was having that problem here becuase my temps were getting into the 90's so I got an AC for them and now it stays in between 80-84 and they are all fine. Just my opinion.
