Hello all~

It has been a while. Busy with work, work, work. Niblet and Maize are doing fine.

I wanted to ask the King experts about the Arizona Mtn. King and a Mexican black. I am getting these two snakes from a person that is having problems getting them to eat regularly.

The Mexi Black will eat, but not regularly. The hatch date for this snake was August 2nd 2007. I asked about temps and it was stated that the warm side temps were unknown but the cool side was 70 F. Type of heating is using an UTH and paper substrate. Hides, water dishes and the like in a sweater box.

The AZ Mtn. has not eaten since Jan 8th. It's hatch date was August 8th, 2007. I was told it had been fed scented pinkies and the snake will sometimes eat and sometimes not. Then it was stated that the snake probably needed xxsm pinkies and this person didn't have any.

So my plan of action is to get them home, get them on the right temps. Let them settle and then try to feed in about a week. I will have my vet check them out for internal parasites on my way home so that I don't have to disturb them once I have them at home. I have two sweater boxes with UTH that are set for 88 F and a cool side of 70 F. Several Hides and water dishes.

Any other suggestions for me once I get these guys home? Or am I on the right track? I will be bringing them home on Saturday, so I have time to get other things necessary for their care if you all think I need it.

Thanks for your opinions, advice and help.

Everything sounds good. You also might want to try to find an anole. It might be hard this time of year but if they were scenting pinks, that's usually the best lizard to use. Mtn. Kings can be difficult to start for this reason.

You're looking just fine. Good for you for taking them.

Edit: Maybe some nutribac (used sparingly) to build them up a bit?

I have some nutribac, I have thought about this option, thanks for reminding me about that.

I won't know what shape they are in until I get them this weekend. I will keep you all posted.
