My sons took Fredric out the other day without my knowledge and when they put him back they couldn't find the cage clip so they just left it un clipped and Fred is gone. I have traps and tape down but no signs of him yet. I am afraid he may has gotten into our floor vents and can't get out and there is no way for me to check them. There is also a vent under our non operable fireplace that he could have gotten into but when I checked in there I saw no sign of him but there was a small hole in the back that he could have gotten to but there is no way to get back and see where it might go to. He is still so little he could really be anywhere and I have 4 dogs in the house too. That doesn't bode well for him either. I hope he will turn up yet but not much. :(

I'm sorry to hear about Fredric missing!

Be careful with using tape for one…he can get stuck to it and it can cause injury trying to get him off.
A couple tips:

- Check behind fridges, ovens, and computers (My friend just found hers behind her computer). Anything that gives off heat.

- Pay attention to your dogs, they may find him and act curious toward a certain area

- Follow the wall on both sides of where the tank was. A little guy will look usually stay
close to the wall, and find anything that he can climb into and hide. So check everything !

- You can set up a heat pad under a hide along the wall in the room you believe he was. Cover the heat pad. Cover the pad in tin foil and maybe a material that he can't get under. This way he won't get stuck on the pad. This will give him heat. Check this "trap" often.

- There's some messier ways of looking too. A small layer of sugar or flour along a heartwood floor. However with dogs this could be difficult. Pennies lined up a couple millimetres from the wall (You'll need a couple rolls). See if the pennies have moved at all.

- Put some water down for him too, just in case

Some others may have some search ideas so I'll leave at that. Good luck

I read this on RFUK
Get a bottle (like a big Pepsi one)
Cut the top with the lid on |]> and unscrew the bottle cap
Tape (carefully!) A bit of plastic bag to the (can't find the word...) Top
Put some mice in the bottle
Put the lid backwards
Wait!
Sorry, this sucks because I can't find the right words! Try looking on the reptile forum, it's a sticky

Yeah, I tried that and even put down next to it with water and a hide for the first week after he escaped. Unfortunately that did not bring about any sign of him and I am almost positive he probably headed straight down the floor heater vent that is right near where his viv is and if that is the case I doubt we will ever see him again. I'm really mad because my son could have told me he couldn't find the clip and it would have been an easy fix to tape it closed for a while. Not to mention Frederic was, by far, my favorite of our babies. Here is one of my last pictures of him at his last feeding with us

I haven't seen another caramel since with such perfect dots almost all the way down like that. :(
