Scratching his nose?

Got a wierd question. I just fed Bill and he's finally eating on a regular schedule and has actually become pretty fiesty. anyways, after I put him back in the viv he was really active and was pushing his nose into the carpet and lifting his neck up, but like he was trying to burrow through the carpet. has anyone seen this in their's before? i was scared he was going to regurge again but he didn't.

Could he be about ready to shed? I've seen other people talk about their corns "scratching" like that trying to get the shed started. If that was the case though, he'd probably be doing it just more than that one time, so I dunno, just a thought...

Probably just resetting its jaw, they kind of dislocate them to swallow large prey, so it would be pretty sure it is just resetting it, nothing to worry about. ;)

Yes, he was just resetting his jaw, I'm sure. Some of mine rub their nose/jaw after they eat and some just lift their heads up and open their mouths and twist the lower jaw back and forth to get it back together.

As Cindy said, nothing to worry about.

I also agree with Cindy and Gardenmum about the resetting. My snake Sienna does that almost every time (and we've never had a regurge, so its definately not an indicator of that:))

thanks for asking this question, i was wondering the same thing...

i've seen flick reset his jaw by yawning, but never on the bottom of his feeding container until his last feeding. i also was afraid he was going to re-gurg (i had just increased the meal size).

good to know there's nothing to worry about.

i would have said it is about to shed, because hey will violently try to shove their nose on everything to free up the skin, so they can shed. in fact mine shed last night, i cant wait till she is like 5feet that will be the day, but they are probly correct with resetting jaw :eatpointe

thanx for all the replies. I think you guys are right about resetting the jaw or maybe just even wiping the mouse juice off, he meal was alittle bloody he got the body and my other one got just the head. i wish it was for shedding b/c he's 2 months over due for a shed.

well thats not good but i mean it isn't to bad, it might be because humidity. if you soke your snake it might trigger a shedding, but if he is not getting larger than there is no need for him to shed. mine sheds about once every month to month and a half. i dont thin you should really worry :duck: :duck:

he shed 2 days after i got him then refused to eat for almost 2 months. he's eating great now but hasn't shed since that first one. i think now that he's been eating and growing fast, he'll shed soon. btw just incase how can i raise the humidity?

You can spray the viv with some water on the warm side (dont soak it though, just a few squirts) Or you could try putting a moss box in, thats just some damp sphagnum moss usually available from stores which sell garden products. You can get the same effect by putting some damp paper towels in a box too. Make the box big enough for your snake to fit in when loosly coiled then put a hole in the top about 1.5 times the girth of the snake or put a hole in each side so he can crawl through. Hope this helps

i agree with vickiM sounds corrrect to me knows what to do with low humidity, hope we could help/ :spinner: :spinner:
