Hi
I'm fairly new to snakes and have a 6 month old albino corn snake.
He is just over a foot long. I have him in a 60 gal aquarium with the grate lid from the pet store.
I want to hang artificial plants from the lid but the snake climes up and gets along the rim of the tank.
I have 6 clamps holding the lid 2 at each end and one on each side (one about 1/4 way on the back and the second 1/4 way from the other side on the front) Make sense?
Kind of like this:

The clamps are the springy ones you get from the pet stores.
Does anyone know if he can escape and what I can do to assure it doesn't?
It's in my bed room and don't want my wife (or myself) to get startled in the night.

Thanks

my snake climbs around the rim of the tank all the time and hasn't gotten out, i have 4 clips on a 29 gallon. i would just push up on the lid and see if it feels like its loose if not don't worry, if so add more clips

You'd know if it's too loose. I accidently bought the 30gal clips and they don't fit on my 10gal tank, so I've been using two and a half weights on each side of the tank for now. He's only around 22grams.

The description of your clip placement makes perfect sense to me. That's the same way I have mine set up. Two on each of the long sides and one on each of the short sides, right?

As long as you have the right sized clips, your snake shouldn't be able to get the top off. Wiggle it around and see if there are any gaps. If there are no gaps, your snake should be safe.

Thanks for the info.

I actually have two on each short and one on the long sides.
I'm going to buy a couple more clips to be safe.

Thanks
