I got my corn, Monty, around the end of may. Well, it is July now and he still hasn't shed to my knowledge. He has eaten 5 or 6 times. Would the skin he sheds go away fast or would I see it?

Also, He almost never comes out from under his water dish. I have 1 hide on the cool end and 1 on the warm end. I also have one that is on both sides. It is only around 77-80 degrees on the warm end because he is ALWAYS under his bowl so I assumed he was too warm.

I have only seen him out from under his bowl twice without me moving him. They were both when I woke up in the middle of the night and happende to look over at his cage.

Any advice? I am a first time snake owner.

You would see it. Although it could be buried in his substrate depending on what you are using.

Depending on his age, he may shed every 4-8 weeks. Just make sure you feed him on a regular basis.

Cornsnakes are mostly nocturnal and like to hide. Your snake is very normal. If he is not using his hides, they may be too big for him to feel safe. Try using empty toilet paper or paper towel rolls. I have used them and my snakes loved them. This may get him out from under his water bowl and make him a little more visible.

Ok thanks, well right now I have a toilet paper roll on the cool end and a rock on the warm end. The one that is on both is a paper towel roll. Ya, the only thing worrying me was the shedding. He eats very well and it very friendly when I handle him.

Thank you for your help I am loving having a corn snake so far! =)

My snake also never comes out of hiding, even at night that i have seen. He is pretty quiet at night and never really moves around much but ive only had him for about a week.

Should I put anything else in his viv? Right now I just have 3 hides and a bowl. I use bark chips (aspen I think. I cant remember They came in this package a bought when I got the snake.)
