i am pretty new to breeding mice. i was wondering if any body knows of any other signs of the females going to give birth soon than being very fat and building nests?
any help greatly appreciated

lee

All of the above, I've also noticed the other mice in colony are more attentive to the female ready to give birth. I have a female in one of my colonies ready to pop, when I was feeding this morning the male was checking her a lot. Usually he pays more attention to my hand so he can bite me, lol.

lol. thanks. i noticed today that when i was moving the females back to the tank after cleaning it she was very squeaky. i think she is pregnant and was wondering if this would be a sign of her about to give birth. when i got the females one was pregnant but i think she done the thing were they absorb the babies (don't know the technical things but its a bit like giving themselves an abortion). it has been nearly 4 weeks now so i am hoping she is going to pop very soon. i think she is fat but she doesn't stay still long enough fr me to tell.

thanks for all of the help.

One thing I do when a female is very pregnant is leave the little area where she has made a nest alone and clean all around and her. Maybe it's just me but I think it helps them be more secure :crazy02:
