Smoking Residue (NOT Second Hand Smoke)

Fluke

New member
Hi! I was contemplating today if it bothers the snakes to be handled after my partner and I smoke. I know that residue gets left on our hands (tar, nicotine, etc.) and I'm not sure if this is bad/uncomfortable for the snakes. We do not smoke inside the house so I am not worried about second hand smoke, just the transdermal stuff from our fingers. I wash my hands before handling them but I am not sure this is enough.

Any input?

I smoke and i give my hands a good wash because of the same reason. I found they are fine if you wash but then leave it at least 30 mins as this makes a huge difference to the ammount of chemicals on your hands.

I used to smoke till fairly recently.. I never noticed that it was harming the snakes at all, though I have never smoked in the house. That's probably the thing I would worry about more than what's on your hands.

Duh... I can be soooo thick :smash: I've got to get a sense of humor.
Anyone know where I can get one cheap? lol

There it is :)

As long as you wash your hands and leave a little time then it shouldn't be a problem. The main concern would be the fumes from the cigarettes, but since you don't smoke inside that's not an issue.

All the best

David
