Okay, listen to what that person said! "They are lethal animals, and my main concern is in neighborhoods and children playing in neighborhoods," said Pollard. "Snakes are dangerous. It's their nature." I mean, come on! There are a few people trying (sometimes successfully) to ban keeping all poisonous snakes and all constrictors. As in, our harmless corns would have to go. These people obviously don't know a single thing about snakes. "Snakes are lethal...its their nature." Tell that to Angel when she wraps around in my lap while I write English essays. They obviously go by just what they HEAR - which is usually a bunch of crap that snake-haters spew off in their free time.
If people want to ban dangerous things, they should ban all dogs instead of snakes. Thousands of people get bit by dogs, and the injuries are often serious and can sometimes lead to deat. When was the last time a corn bit you and you had to go to the ER?
Another thing - I am going to get a poisonous snake later on in my life. (I'm not just saying this just to be defiant. I've been thinking it over for a few years now.) I will certainly not try to get one now, not while I don't have as much experience is needed to get a poisonous snake, and I admit that I probably won't get more than one. However, I'd like to be able to keep my rights as a citizen of America and be able to get my non-endangered poisonous snake after some years, when I'm ready to.
Finally...the people trying to ban snakes say often say that people don't care for their animals properly and that caring for a snake is extremely difficult. I don't know about any of you, but my snake isn't hard to care for. Turn the heat lamp on and off, feed once a week (or twice a week for the little one) and clean the cage every so often. There you go, perfect setup. Not all - dare I even say it, MOST - snake owners treat their pets with respect and give them the proper care. I can see where arresting certain individuals that keep snakes in crowded quarters without the right light or keeping a man who keeps illegal cobras in his backyard from owning snakes again would be reasonable...but why punish all of us for their crimes???
(Sorry for the long post
