Snake Escape

Well... i know i always make sure to clamp the lid when i put it back on.. but sometimes my mom opens up his tank just to watch him or whatever. I checked him yesterday to make sure the temps were right and all, but didn't open the tank. So, today i was over at my grandparents' helping to paint their house, and i got a call from my mom saying that my snake wasn't in his viv. So i rushed over and we looked all around my room, but couldn't find him(there's a lot of places he could have hidden in there.. and i'm not even sure if he's in my room.. he's young and could have easily gone under the door). Apparently my mom did open the tank at some point yesterday... so i'm thinking that maybe she forgot to clamp it down. But, anyway, he's out and i have no idea where he is. Today was supposed to be feeding day, so we figured that he'd be hungry.. so i set a couple f/t mice out in my room, and stuffed a towel under the door so that if he is still in there he can't get out.. So, if he takes the mice, we'll at least know that he's still in there. That was about 6 hours ago and the mice haven't been touched. I'm getting really worried. Does anyone have any ideas about how to find him? :shrugs:

Don't panic.

I've found missing reptiles after two and a half weeks, no harm done, as long as they don't get found by cats.

He will probably be behind something, under something, or has climbed up high to a vantage point. Put his cage on the floor if you can, with food in it, and his heat equipment, near an edge of the room.

You can try bottle traps if you think he's going to be hungry... I'll explain that after work. You've got time to find him, though.

To make a bottle trap -

1. Take a small/large drinks bottle (Depending on size of snake) and pair of scissors
2. Remove and throw away the lid
3. Cut the neck and a small piece of the body off of the bottle
4. Insert the neck into the bottle the wrong way round.
5. Insert mouse and hope he's hungry (The snake that is)

The snake can get in, but cannot get out again (Because they've got very small brains, and can't really figure out where they came in). Most importantly, don't panic, snakes have turned up months after they were lost and survived. He'll turn up.

I found him just now! I had looked everywhere in my room.. behind and under everything. But i was just now sleeping and my sister came downstairs and said "we found your snake!".. then i went upstairs and dad was yelling for me to get it(he wouldn't get near it.. XD). It was all the way on the other side of the house in my parents' room!

Well, i don't know where it was when dad first found it.. but when i got to it, it was under a pile of clothes, and starting to crawl under this big wooden wardrobe thing they have.
