I measured my snake today and he is 18.2 inches long and approx half an inch at his widest point

He is ruffly 5months old

This sound about normal????

just started him on one small fuzzy every friday.in a couple of weeks ill see how he takes a big fuzzy

Well, I believe that the general rule is you move up a prey size when feeding doesn't leave a visible lump in your snake.

So only move up prey size again when you notice this happening :) I'm sure you know you're own snake, so I expect you're doing fine, but I wanted to point that out just in case you weren't sure, as feeding too large a prey item too soon can cause regurgitations and such.

Good luck!

yep totaly agree.i didnt just start giving him a fuzzy.spoke to a lot of people about it and my local herp specialist.

Feeding him pinkys never gave him a lump and last friday was the first time i tryed a fuzzy.

He took it well and for the first time tryed constricting his pray which he never did with pinkys. He has excreted twice since so is doing well i think.

Just wondering now when he will shed.

Have noticed he is a bit jumpy at the moment and is rubbing himself against the glass and log a bit.

Just waiting for him to go blue now.

How often should a young corn shed.He is approx 5 months

Does he always do this before a shed?
If not, I would be inclined to check for mites or skin irritation.

A young corn like him should shed around every 4-6 weeks. Most of the young corns I work with shed once a month.

Look carefully around his head. Mites often can be seen around a snake's eyes.

Another thing to think about, what's your humidity like?
