Snakes and Storms

Well last night was something to see all my snakes were out and frantic, trying every much to get out of there Viv's. I have never taken much notice to how storms effect my snakes in the past, has anyone noticed more or unusual activity during storms? I was fortunate enough to not loose power and no damage to my home or vehicles. Some of but not of my snakes are active at night and the active ones are usualy out for maybe an hour or two. Last night every single snake I own was out and all very hyper. I just got 2 rescues yesterday that I had to cohabat for the night till I can get out to the pet store today, they seemed to be the calmest but very much out and trying to escape. I suspect there all spent after the workout they got last night will see how there doing as the day progresses

Hahaha passed out in various corners is my bet. I do have one that likes to sunbathe..

I have noticed behavior like that before. Since I live in an area where we hardly get storms it is a bit more obvious when the snakes change just a little bit.

All my scaly babies were pretty chill last night, although we didn't get hit terribly hard (gusty winds and rain, but nothing like NYC or Jersey). Our cat was terrified and spent the night curled on my bf's stomach, but the snakes? Didn't really notice.

Except for the one blizzard baby, who was quite active. But then, she's generally active at night a few days post-feeding. So it was still normal behavior for her.

Poor Stig was curled up in his cave staring at me like "Why are you letting the wind whip like that?" I ended up covering the front of his cage so he couldn't see the room and out the window, it seemed to help.
He gets really nervous whenever storms hit or the temperature outside drops, just out and climbing around all nervously.

I did notice that almost all the snakes were out and looking around this morning, nothing frantic. In the interests of full disclosure, I plan to feed tomorrow and Thursday, so it could just be hunting.

When sandy was doing its thing, My boy Punk was going nuts.
Crazy wind and rain. He was paceing back and forth going from hide to hide and climbing everything that he could. When i put my hand it just to maybe let him lay on it...somehow i thought it would calm him. He crawled on me and tried to climb up my arm but after a minute he just curled up in my hand. Thouht it was was cute wether or not it was the case.

Related to storms so I thought I'd ask this here if OP doesn't mind but what's a good plan of action to keep temps up if power goes out? or just don't worry about it?

Oh, my snakes ADORE storms I don't know what it is, maybe just something in the air but they are always very active and "social" when it's storming. During the hurricane, they were out for 48 hours straight!

It's a behavior I've always noticed, they especially like it when the power goes out, ahah!
(the cichlids, not so much...)

Don't mind at all forest. During that storm Sandy I had a generator I didn't have to fire it up thankfully I did not loose power. I think it was Nanci who said hand warmers in case of power failure do well. I never thought of that even tho my snakes are shipped with them in the box lol. I made a trip to Bass pro and bought a bag just to have on hand. I would say if you don't have anything like that and you loose power throw a towel over the tank to help hold any remaining heat inside. If its just for a day I wouldn't sweat it.
