Stacking Tubs...

Jenstar

IN OVER MY HEAD ;)
OK, I know alot of you that have multiple snakes, have rack systems... But I don't currently, and I wanted to know your opinions on stacking tubs... (with ventilation holes of course...) It doesn't seem all that different except the tubs are not separated by shelves and they have there lids on... My only problem would be proper heat...( I live in Ca. I don't have to worry now my room sits at 80+ degrees. But I want them warm during the winter months... Do you think the under tank mats would burn the tubs??? I don't want to risk my snakes... So, for those of you that use or have used the stacking method what did you do for heat and did you ever have problems???

Undertank mats don't burn tubs - and you could possibly stick them to the sides of the tubs if you plan on stacking them.

I would worry about the middle tubs being significantly warmer than the bottom ones, and also a lack of airflow between the tubs to the heat mats.

I see your point because the middle tubs would be between two other heat mats at least...
Well what about heat ropes, Is there a safe way to use them without a rack??? I know you would need a thermostat to control the temps... Could I run it along the back part of the tubs... Would that be better than individual heat mats???

That sounds like a really good idea... So the flex watt won't burn the pegboard??? I'm sure that's a dumb question to those of you that have had snakes a long time but I'm still an amateur...

The flexwatt idea in my opinion is the best . And u can get 2'' aluminum tape at wal-mart and use it to protect the wood (pegboard) from burning if anything goes wrong and always use a thermostat.
Have the pegboard to the wall and the tubs against it.
