i no u can use aspen and paper towels and bucher paper but can u use pine i use that for my other exotic critters and it would be alot more convienent for me and my parentsright now i thing news paper is good but with news paper the heating pad gets really hot and with shaveings he could kinda adjust tempatures by barying himself just wondering since ceder is toxic :shrugs:

No, pine isn't good for other animals either.
Just a thought, you'd be better reading the FAQ's at the head of each section, plus getting a book like Kathy's orn snake manual, rather that asking basic questions in each sub-forum here. Then come and ask anything you're not sure of and you'll be all set to go

Pine shavings aren't the best for any animal. I believe it's something with the oils and aromas that are associated with pine. I'm sure people have done it before (and will continue to do it) but I wouldn't advise it. If the heat pad gets too hot with only newspaper you should get something (thermostat or rheostat) to regulate the temperature.

Whoops, I meant corn , not orn!
Here's one of my snakes modelling my copy

My vote is also against pine

We know newspaper is OK; I got a BIG bag of aspen at local TRACTOR SUPPLY for under $10; and cypress mulch is ok also-about $3 at LOWES. No reason to try anything that even might possibly be unsafe. :wavey:

If you're buying things like mulch from a supply store you need to be very careful to make sure it hasn't been treated with anything.
And to santize it first by baking it, those things are likely crawling with ickies.

well thank you but im gonna stick whith news paper-its free, you always have some on hand, and it works
