Suddenly Aggressive

Okay, so I'm sure you guys have heard me talk about how wonderful our little Amel is, a total angel. Never struck, bit hiss, tail rattle--the prefect little angel even since we got him.

Well he got out a few days ago and I found him that night luckily. Put him back in his tank and he never moved from his log. Then when we picked him to up to him in his feeding tub, he bit my boyfriend twice then made a strike at me!

What is with the sudden aggression?

I've seen a number of accounts describing aggression in snakes that were recovered after they escaped. I'm sure he'll revert to his previous mellowness after he settles back in.

Sounds like a scared little guy still, give him some time to
settle, then gradually, gently start to handle again.
I'm sure he'll be fine. Has to be a shocking experience for
something that size.

I hope so. He doesn't seem too tramatized considering he downed a rat pinkie in 5 seconds flat.

I've noticed that my snake is more jittery after being out for a while. Usually not when I am handling him but in the summer if I let him slither through the grass he gets a little testy when its time to go back. I figure its like a little kid at the pool, he gets a taste of freedom and doesn't want to go back home. :p
