What a wierd day. So in May I believe, I had my first clutch from a first time breeder. The clutch appeared to be all slugs, and two weeks later proved that theory with mold and deterioration. So I let my female hang on her own for a while and then she hung with the male in his large tank for several weeks and there was no breeding behavior, which was good. And they have been cohabitating for awhile (I know the disagreements with this)calm both enjoying their separate moist boxes. Well last week she ate, no problem. I had had her out and hadn't seen any increased weight or anything. But today, feeding day. I was separating them to eat and under her were 13 eggs in the warm moist peat moss. WoW!!! 5 or six are very soft and thin shelled so I assume they are slugs, but this time there are really nice healthy ones.YEAH. So I got my incubator back up and running and this time I am trying the PERLITE. I drained it and have them sitting in it with a nice coat of moist moss. I have the incubator to around 78to 80 degrees and I am off and running.
I am just scared I'll lose these too. The soft ones are connected to my healthy eggs and I fear mold rearing its evil head again. If any one has some calming words or suggestions, I would appreciate it. I want the moisture to be right and I don't want to lose these babies.
So yeah but anxiety. They are in a tupperware container in a normal incubator so I hope Murphy will be nice.
Thanks for your time reading my surprise. Christina
