sweating egg

A question for you experienced breeders out there. I have a small clutch of 6 eggs laid on June 15. So far all look really good but one. It is slightly softer than the others and has just a tiny patch of white mold on it. The thing that worries me though is that it is "sweating". I have heard that if they start sweating they are on their way out. Can anybody give me some advice/input on this. Any comments from people who know what they are talking about would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help you can give.

This is not a good sign. Sometimes they are just not viable. There is nothing that you can do or could have done. It was most likely one of these eggs, that looks fertile that actually wasn’t, or the embryo died shortly after being laid. I take these out when it is totally obvious that they are no good. They will actually feel almost solid when they are left long enought.

Thanks for the input Joe. I did have another small clutch earlier this year that "turned solid" as you described. Both this clutch and the other that went bad were produced by first year breeders, so I am not surprised. I just went and candled the clutch with the sweaty egg. All are good but the sweaty one. It didn't even have a single blood vessel. I guess that answers that question. I just hope the other five continue to grow.
