Tank cleaning

So, I was lucky enough to have been given a 20 gal long tank by my friend yesterday. Thing is, it needs to be cleaned and has sticky stuff on it and a bit of gravel left in the bottom. She had previously used it as an aquarium.

Just wanted to check and see what you all recommend to use as snake safe cleaners, esp to get the sticky stuff off (I was thinking goo gone, but that is petroleum based).

I'd say if it's glass you can use anything to dissolve the crud, you just have to clean off the anything that you use.
If you clean the anything with detergent rinse many times and dry for a while.

I would clean if with whatever you need to to remove the sticky stuff.
Is the sticky stuff from stickys ,post. or just junk that is stick?
But when you get done clean it again with a mild bleach /water solution. Let it dry overnight to remove all smell of bleach.

The sticky stuff is from a thermometer that was peeled off, and a stick-on background that left lots of goop. I'm sure the goo gone will blast this stuff right off, then I'll rinse it thoroughly. Would a 5% v/v bleach solution be sufficient?

Yes, You could use any really, bleach just help kills alot of thing mold, germs. Main thing is rince well and let it dry/air out. No fumes or residue.

Also while cleaning the tank. If you find any wood ,branches in the wood or petshops it a good idea to clean them with a bleach too. But with branches you can bke it at q low temp to kill anything that might be live in it. Same deal rince well and dry out. Wood should be dry/old like firewood not sappy.
