I havnt got my corn yet but i have the cage and it is going to be on a desk that is made out of cedar. The cedar is basically surrounding the cage except for the front. Would this be a problem?

From what I understand that should be fine. I believe that it is the resins in the wood that are toxic to snakes, so as long as your snake is not having bodily contact with the desk for extended periods of time daily, it should be fine. Also, if the wood is sealed I would imagine that that would decrease the risk even more. I could be wrong on that though. Bottom line is that the snake should probably be fine on the desk.

if you seal wood with any "good" kind of sealer, you won't have problems with anything leaking through. I used White Pine to build my rack, and my snakes are housed in Sterilite tubs. I stained and then sealed the wood. Since I have done this, the sap is not able to penetrate because the pours have been sealed. Cedar works the same way. When you buy Cedar furnature, it is sealed to protect us from getting sap on our clothes, and to protect the wood from moisture.
