looking for help on a couple of things .. Is a 10 gallon too large for a baby corn? .. what wattage range uth would I need for the hot side? (about 74 deg. in my house) .. and what can you do in case of power outages?

10 gallon is fine, I used the zoomed one rated for 10-20g tanks, if I could do over I would go down a step but either way a thermostat will control the temps vs just relying on the wattage. (also lots of people have suggested to attach it to a piece of foil instead of the glass directly so that it is easier to maintain and less direct heat that could hurt yoru snake.) And in case of a power outage, your average normal house temp is fine, the snake will never hurt for staying at that temp all the time. (they can be mid 70's all the time, but the area to go for higher temps is for better digesting)

Thanks, just wanted to be sure the heater I got would have enough ooomph to get the hot zone in the 80s .. going to have to put it on the side of the glass, using an old aquarium that has a non-glass bottom.

Definitely you don't need to worry about the UTH getting hot enough - but too hot is always a possible problem so a thermostat is always recommended.

Thanks for the help .. yes, always intended to use a t-stat .. got a ZooMed UTH and T-stat picked out .. and a thermometer and hygrometer, guess that covers the HVAC for starts, lol
