Hello every one,
Me and my hon have been thinking alot about getting our first pet and after desscusing it for a while we have come down to 3 to 4 things. But the only thing here that I can say would be a snake. But not just any snake a cornsnake. I have every thing for it... the only thing I'm missing now is the snake. But my problem is this.... one; I had got a cornsnake last year, unfortantly it died because it wouldnt eat (I had got him offline). so my hons a little consured about me getting it offline again. Two, some types are more exspencve then others, I want one that is not bright, looks posinus red but I dont want a dull looking one either. my limit is 60 dollors. And last is I was told that I should get one thats a good 4 mounths old. so if you guys could help me out then that would be great.

I'm sorry, I read my post and I noticed a few things this time then last...
First... I meant to say online... not offline. two, I meant to say that the red ones look posinus and the ones with red eyes look evil... so I try to stay away from them, I KNOW that they aren't dangerus. and I say 60 only be cause when I bought him it cost me 55 dollors. so I dont want to pay over 60 all together... I mean I still have to get it's food as I dont want to blow all my money.
And what would shiping cost anyway?

I would go with a bloodred. Rich sells them for about $50 + shipping at www.serpenco.com He doesn't have any at the moment, but I'm sure he will soon. I've gotten a lot of corns from him and I haven't had any trouble with any non-eaters, but that can happen with any snake, not just those that you buy online. The great thing about bloodreds, especially the bright ones, is that at first glance, they look poisonous, but are as harmless as any other corn. I have a couple snow, amel, and anery hatchlings that I'll sell you. They are about 1 month old. All of them are feeding and sheding with no problems. I'll go ahead and give you one for your price limit, shipping and all, and I will also put a guarantee that if it doesn't eat, I will replace it. Let me know. PM me if you are interested.

(Sorry Rep addict...I'm not trying to compete...just business :))

I don't want to rain on your parade here, but do you know why it wouldn't eat? Some snakes are just problem feeders (not much you can do), but sometimes it can come from housing issues, stress, improper temps, over handling, or other problems that can be easily fixed (ie, snake does not feel secure in it's home).

I think it's great that you want to get another snake and if Jynx is willing to sell you one at the price you want to pay, I think that's a great offer. I trust her, if that helps at all in your decision to buy one from her.

As for what morph you want, that's all personal preference. I happen to prefer normals, personally, but bloodreds are very nice is color is what you're after.

Whichever you chose, good luck and congrats!

Amels are pretty bright with oranges and reds, but aren't very expensive. You might want to go with something like that. Another suggestion is try a reptile show where you can see the animals and choose one that suits you. Many people who sell there will give you the feeding schedule of the snake and how long it's been feeding. I got my amel at the show, and he's been very mellow and a good feeder. This is what he looks like.

Just one large adult mouse a week. Right now though, he's in the mood for love, and not food, so he hasn't eaten in almost a month!

Venomous...PLEASE...LOL :nyah:

Sorry to be such a stickler...but when people call snakes "poisonous" it makes my head spin :spinner: ...LOL...especially someone with as much experience as you, Jynx!! :D

Not to be a pain, but the venomous thing is one of my pet peeves too.

I know a lot of people don't neccessarily know the difference, so here's my favorite explanation (and the easiest to understand, at least) regarding the poisonous/venomous issue:

Poisonous: something that you can have a negative reaction to by touching or injesting.

Venomous: when something causes a negative reaction when injected directly into the bloodstream, but not not harmful if swallowed or touched.

Theoretically, (assuming you have no small abrasions or cuts in your digestive tract - improbable as that may be) you could throw a venomous snake in the blender and drink the product with no ill effects. Now if you did that with poison ivy, that would be another story, right?

Sorry for the graphic illustration - but it makes it easy to remember...

Alright, sorry for getting up on my soap box :)

Herplover, good luck finding the cornsnake you're looking for! New additions are so exciting!!!
