hello, im new to this site, and somewhat new to corn snakes...i was hoping you guys could help me out... id love some ideas on how to convince the parents the joys of having a corn snake :)

i've always really wanted a snake, but i've never researched them..well until a couple weeks ago...
i've been dropping hints by showing pretty pictures of all the different morphs, and telling them some random but cool facts, but i havent completely ASKED if i could have one :)

anyway, i was hoping you could tell me all the basic 'needs' of a snake, i figure you guys can tell me first hand what you do with your snakies

how often do you feed them? how do you know how many mice to feed them or what size the mouse should be? what's a good size tank for an adult? what's a good price/where should i get my first snake? any reccomendations on favorite morphs?

tell me stories about you and your snakes :) i'd love to hear about them

As for convincing, corn snakes are among the best pets because!:

1. No dire need for vacation babysitting: as long as they have water and have been fed (my corn requires once weekly), they're normally fine!
2. Very low maintainence: They defecate only as often as they eat, and it's easy-to-clean-up and doesn't always require changing ALL of the substrate. Eating is normally very tidy as well.
3. In my experience, corns have as much personality as a puppy, and corns are among the most easygoing of snakes. Unless you have a snippy baby, you will most likely never be bitten.
4. They don't bark, yell or whine. ;)
5. They don't smell.

The list goes on!

Good luck, and hopefully you will get your little snake! For me, In order to convince my parents to get a snake, that I researched and researched. I then typed up a 2 or so paper of what I would do in order to take care of said snake, and how the snake is. No double spaces either (HARD WORK). Another thing for me, since I'm a pretty young teenager, I told them I'd pay for it all myself, I'll buy the snake, viv, all the accesories, and the food. I pulled it off, now I'm trying to convince my parents to let me have another one! Being persistant isnt working although.
