The traveling snake!

Hectorthesnake

Banana Phone.
If I were to take Hector to school for a report....

Would it be ok to take him in a Hermit crab cage thing? Those little ones...>> Or just in a small rubbermaid?

I usually use one of these to transport my snake for a short while http://www.livefoods.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=461

The small lids in the middle on the top can be pushed up by strong adult snakes though so you will have to keep a close eye. Or if you just use a storage container I would drill some small holes about 1/5 from the top. If you dont have room to put hides in there I would put some scrumped up newspaper in there for the time when he is not on display. Also make sure you have fresh water (obvious I know but just thought id mention it). Just remember that corns escape easily so whatever you use make sure it is secure and also ventilated. Also whenever possible give it a hide place aswell.

Thank you..

Thank you..But the thing is already done. But that is exactly what I did with the storage container...A small rubbermaid. And drilled holes...He had a hide, and water..

For short term transport, you don't need to use a hide or put water into the container. The water will spill and get everything wet. Just a little substrate and some shredded paper towels to hide under are all that is really needed. In fact, I often transport my young snakes in old yogurt containers that are aerated and with some aspen and shredded paper towel. These are small and afford the snake a little bit of comfort. They like to feel enclosed and protected on all sides, it means less stress during transport. :crazy02:
