Thermometer/Thermostat Questions

Hi guys,
Right now I have my corn snake on a digital thermometer and a rheostat, but with the summer weather I find his temperature fluctuating way too much. What kind of Thermostat do you use? Are there thermostats that will function for more than one tank? Are there thermometers that will function for more than one tank?
I am looking for something to do 2 tanks. But, I don't know how close these tanks will be to each other. I also need something affordable - either from a pet store or from ebay.

Thanks everyone for your input!

I use straight on/off thermostats - bottom of the price range, but they've been fine for me over the years. Temps fluctuate by a few degrees but not for long enough to cause a problem. They'd certainly be more stable than with a straight rheostat. Can't advise on make/model as I'm in the UK and don't know what you have available over there.

You can control two heat mats in two tanks, with one stat. The caveat is that the mats need to be the same size and the tanks need to be the same size/setup. You'll only have one probe, so you must be using the mats in the same way and position in both tanks. Just use a multi-plug adapter with the stat and make sure that the combined total of the mats' output is within the tolerance of the stat's specifications.

I use the one Porro linked on both my dual tank setups, but the cheapest I found it here is about $50. It is an on/off thermostat so you'll have to monitor the thermometer and adjust the dial on the thermostat until you get the temperature set right. It will fluctuate a bit, but it's definitely more accurate than using a rheostat when the room temperature isn't stable.
