thermometer/thermostat temp difference

So I have a hydrofarm thermostat to regulate my UTH. I use a zoo med thermometer to double check the temp on the thermostat. They were pretty close to each other the first few days I had them set up (within 1-1.5 degrees). However, recently the thermometer has read about 3-4 degrees warmer. I checked to make sure both the probes were next to each other, and they are. Is this typical, or is something wrong? Thanks.

Differences aren't unusual. Thermostats can produce slightly different results with different makes/models of UTH, and some UTH can have "hot spots" which are slightly warmer than other parts of it. I'd say when in doubt, believe the thermometer.
